Allan Buitekant stoneware and white stoneware clays create beautiful functional pottery. After glazing they are reduction fired to a temperature around 2300 degrees Farenheit referred to as cone 9-10. There is no lead used in any of his pieces. Almost Buitekant pieces are dishwasher safe. The one exception is when I create ceramics with lustre. So please handwash my luster pieces if you have them, says Allan, occasionally I let beauty beat out practicality. Although much of the work is conceived as production pottery the results are often more like one-of-a-kind because every piece is either thrown on the wheel, altered, or slab constructed. The pottery, therefore, will not be exact replicas of one another. Glaze results will also vary.
