Bill Kreider
Furniture Maker Bill KreiderKreider earned a B.A. in history from St. Francis University in 1974. After College he was hired to tear down big corporate buildings. In a steel mill, he discovered Foundry patterns. (Today, these foundry pattern pieces are often integrated in his furniture) Later, he worked for 14 years with the Pennsylvania Stage Company as a technical director and production manager. He's currently a board member of the Theatre Outlet and previously served on the arts panel for Leadership Lehigh Valley and as a member of the Lehigh Valley Arts Council. . He currently lives in Emmaus, Pa., with his wife, Pam Pepper, a theater professor at Lehigh University Kreider's work graces a number of homes, restaurants and stores in New England & Canada. use reclaimed wood, I-beams, and other cast offs from our post-industrial society. The now defunct Bethlehem Steel Mill has been a significant source for Steel I-beams. He has also stockpiled aged lumber from several classic buildings taken down near his Allentown, Pennsyvania workshop. Kreider estimates that he has personally saved thousands of cubic yards of material from landfills.
