Pewter Pocket Angels Details
Pewter pocket angels are a token of hope. Some call them pewter angel coins. Each is about the size of a quarter. Carry a few pocket angels so you are prepared to give some angel power & hope to somone who could use it. About 1 inch across, cast in smooth, solid pewter. Looks like old silver.
The angel coin seems to have originated in France around 1340. It was a gold coin called the "ange". England began minting angel coins in 1465. This English angel had a representation of St. Michael and the dragon. It was said to cure the imune system disease called scrofula. This coin was last minted in 1642.
Our pewter pocket angels relate back to when the gold coins were no longer minted. People who came to be cured of disease were coins called touch-pieces. They were made of a base metal (perhaps pewter), with angel markings just like the gold had.
