George Peterson Wood Bowls - Sculptures

October 1 - November 30, 2006:

Turned and shaped wood by North Carolina woodworker George Peterson will be featured at Stowe Craft Design Center October1 – November 30, 2006. This one man show of reveals the control and beauty in this American master wood carver’s unique method. Working from a small North Carolina studio, George uses only a chain saw and a handful of gouges to create wood platters and bowls of unusual beauty. George says “ I take an intuitive and spontaneous approach to my work. The action of shaping the wood with my hand-held tools is satisfying in a very basic way. As I work the wood, I collaborate with it. The wood has a voice and I have a voice; we interact. The finished piece illustrates that interplay
