A Brief History of Remarkable Things

Beginning as Shimmering Glass in Waterbury Center in 1983, we purchased and merged with Stowe Craft Gallery in 1995. Soon after, we opened our sister store, an interior design studio and showroom, on South Main Street in Stowe. In 2018, we rebranded the craft gallery as Remarkable Things at Stowe Craft and the design center as Remarkable Home, to better reflect our unique creations and the experience that awaits.

Some Highlights Along the Way

Stowe Craft is a long established business with its roots going back to 1983 and Susan Bayer's Fishman's Shimmering Glass studio in our Waterbury Center home.

1993: Ten years later we moved "Shimmering Glass" to a new and large gallery space on Route 100 in Waterbury Center where Cabot Cheese is located.

1995: Purchased Stowe Craft Gallery, which had begun like Shimmering Glass as an artist studio. Jean Paul Patnode, ski instructor and potter began as Stowe Pottery right about the same time we started doing stained glass.

1997: Merged Shimmering Glass into Stowe Craft Gallery and opened our sister store, an Interior Design Studio and Showroom, on Route 100 in Stowe Village.

1999: Recognized by "Niche Magazine" as a place on the Top 100 American Craft Galleries list.

2001 - present: Listed in several travel and art publications such as New York Times, London Mail, Yankee Magazine, New England Traveler and Best of Boston.

2008: Website and e-commerce site, StoweCraft.com, begins making significant contribution to our store.

2018: Rebranded as Remarkable Things at Stowe Craft and Remarkable Home to better reflect our unique creations and the experience that awaits.
