Gallery Specialist - Remarkable Things at Stowe Craft

We are looking for a full time Gallery Specialist. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys art, jewelry and craft. On most days, you would work with one or two other staff members. Daily activities include:

  • Learning about artists and their products
  • Setting up displays
  • Greeting and helping customers shop
  • Telling the stories behind our collections
  • Communicating with artists and related retail activities

The applicant should be customer focused, and enjoy being a key player in a small team.

Remarkable Things at Stowe Craft features 100% hand made art, jewelry and crafts. Presently, we display work from over 300 different American artists. And it is still evolving with new discoveries and our artist’s creativity. That means you'll discover something new & interesting every week.

We are open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., 7 days a week, year round.

We provide good pay, paid sick and vacation days, scheduling flexibility and other benefits.
Pay is hourly: $15.00/ hour to start and we also offer employee discounts and subsidized health insurance.
Remarkable Things is open 7 days a week all year. We do have some flexibility with scheduling.

New Position - Back-Office Assistant

Remarkable Things at Stowe Craft is seeking a Back-Office Assistant to support our store and e-commerce activities. The duties cover a wide range of activities, including: processing inventory, data management, communicating with customers, vendors and staff. The Back-Office Assistant reports to the Store Manager and is not responsible for working with customers on the sales floor.

To ensure success in this position, you must be a good communicator who can respond to requests quickly, if needed. This person needs to be skilled at staying organized and should enjoy working as a key part of a small team.

Back-Office Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assisting and coordinating with the sales team
  • Assisting the store and website managers
  • Updating calendars and staff schedules
  • Assisting with ordering and shipping products
  • Receiving products and processing artist invoices
  • Updating our website and point of sale programs with photography and product information
  • Answering email and phone questions from vendors

Back-Office Requirements:

  • Related previous work experience and / or training
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn basic operations for point of sale and website programs
  • Ability to open boxes and carry products between our two buildings as needed

Pay and Benefits

Gallery Specialist - Remarkable Home at Stowe Craft

Do you have an eye for design & love rearranging furniture in your home? Would you enjoy helping others find outstanding furnishings & art they will love to have in their homes? Then this may be the position for you! We are looking for a full- or part-time gallery specialist for our interior design gallery. Our focus is on handmade, fun, high quality, custom furniture & art from small studios and family-run businesses. We are well established, owning & operating two galleries in the center of Stowe for over 25 years. Day to day, you would work with our gallery manager and after a training period, you would also work independently. You will also have support and coordinate activities with staff from both galleries.

Position Expectations Include:

  • Working directly with clients to find just the right item for them to purchase
  • Being a liaison between the artist and customer
  • Keeping artist & vendor information up to date
  • Working out shipping logistics for furniture orders
  • Keeping the gallery displays fresh and alive
