This scene features many different textures and landscapes. A snow-swept mountain range, a mountainous treeline, the local flora, and the uneven rocky base all accented by a bright blue sky. The shading of this print is very impressive, a sense of great depth is created by the vast dark spaces of this print. In contrast, the large areas of shadow allow the bright colors in this piece to really pop.
“Glorious Day started with a spectacular day hiking in the Cascades of Northwest Washington State with my brother. Both of us are very familiar with spectacular mountain landscapes after many years in Alaska. But we agreed that 'it doesn't get any better than this.' The mountain depicted is Mt. Shuksan, east of Mt. Baker. In total, this print took a month to complete and captures as much what I felt as what I saw.” ~ William Hays
