William Hays | Summer Moon
Summer Moon by William H. Hays is a 10-color linoleum block print from an edition of 100.
The forested mountains of the eastern United States have been a part of William Hays' life from the beginning. In summer the humid air creates gauze curtains of atmosphere which partially obscure each layer of hills and forest in the distance.
"The basic idea for this image came from seeing the moonrise in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee back in 1987. The image always stuck with me and I composed this image (almost 30 years later) with layers of transparent hues to get the feeling of that tonal poem of color." - William Hays
