This American made pocket knife is exceptonal on many levels!
1. The handle is made from a section of ancient Woolly Mammoth Tooth.
2. This is a "Lock Back Folding Knife." Locking folders provide much of the confidence of a fixed-blade while open, yet enable you to fold the blade for safety and carrying convenience.
3. The blade is made from rust free, multi-layer Damascus steel for strength and beauty.
The lock back mechanism is a delight of engineering dating back to the 15th century. This modern day refined design is both safe and clever. The lockback's locking mechanism uses a hook on the backspring, which snaps into a corresponding notch on the blade's heel when the blade is fully opened. This securely locks the blade into position making it safe from unexpectedly snapping closed. To close the blade you press a small lever toward the back of the knife handle. This disengages the hook from the notch and thus releases the lock and allows you to easily close the blade. This is normally a 2 handed operation.
Damascus Steel is characterized by it’s strength, edge holding ability, and it’s dramatic appearance. The Damascus Steel used in our knives comes from Japan and is called “Sanmai Damascus” or Sandwich Damascus. There is a core of vg-10 steel with 16 layers of stainless steel on each side to produce a rust free Damascus look blade.
